Hypercom has launched the new Optimum M4200 series of mobile electronic payment terminals, a family of four battery-powered devices designed to meet the need for high-performance, portable payment solutions.
The line offers the same rapid 32-bit multi-application processing, compact form factor and market-leading memory size as Hypercom's recently released Optimum T4200 countertop platform. The series also features the latest security standards approvals, including PCI PED, EMV Level 1 & 2 and MasterCard's PTSP.
The M4200 mobile series will be available with or without an integrated smart card reader for global deployments, with a choice of long-range GPRS with dial backup or Bluetooth wireless with dial or Ethernet connectivity. The rechargeable battery supports more than 200 transactions per charge even while printing receipts.
“The M4200 is a true breakthrough product that makes secure mobile transactions the new standard in POS,” says Gregory Boardman, VP, global product marketing, Hypercom Corporation. “Our Optimum platforms equip customers with a complete POS solution that can be deployed in any end-use scenario, regardless of communications needs. They also have all the necessary regulatory and regional approvals required for any geography, as well as the ability to save time by writing applications that will work across the entire product family.”
Mike Friedman of Mercatus, a consulting and investing firm focused on retail financial services and the payment industry, comments: “Mobile POS represents a significant opportunity characterized by impressive growth rates against an under-penetrated market.”
