Zebra Releases NEW Monochrome Card Printer Combining Fast Print Speed and Low Cost for Best-in-Class Performance

Zebra Technologies (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in card printing, specialty printing and automatic identification solutions, today announced the newest addition to its Performance class of card printers, the Zebra P330m, which prints a card in a rapid 5.2 seconds.  This high-volume monochrome card printer was created especially for users that print large quantities of single-color cards and those who personalise sizeable numbers of pre-printed cards.  The P330m also provides features such as magnetic stripe and smart card encoding.  Encoders for contact smart cards and Mifare contactless cards can be integrated in the printer to enable printing and encoding in one machine.

High volume monochrome printing applications include personalisation of pre-printed gift cards for retail store chains, association membership cards, employee and student ID cards, financial cards, corporate ID badges, and logical and physical security access control cards for a wide number of organisations.  The use of single-color ribbons significantly lowers the cost of the printed card versus printing with a color ribbon.  With significantly faster printing, combined with its lower cost, the P330m creates an attractive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared with other available high-volume printers.

“End-users are looking for a reliable, durable and low cost card printer for high-volume, monochrome applications, and our new P330m handily meets their requirements,” emphasises Veraje Anjargolian, Vice President and General Manager of Zebra Card Printer Solutions.  “Many large organisations ship enormous quantities of pre-printed cards to their various local sites, which, in turn, personalise them.  In addition, small and medium size businesses may only need a single color card for employee ID, customer loyalty and other applications.  With the Zebra P330m, our channel partners now have a robust solution for these customers.”

USB and 10/100 Ethernet connectivity options offer customers the ability to easily deploy and manage the P330m printer on an enterprise-wide basis.  For example, a membership database can be managed centrally with the individual cards printed over the wide-area network at each local outlet.

The patent-pending innovative angled card feeder system provides reliability and simplicity for improved card transportation.  The P330m supports the range of card thickness used worldwide, printing on cards as thin as 10-mil or as thick as 60-mil proximity cards. The card input hopper capacity can be increased from 100 cards to 220 cards (30-mil) with the simple addition of plastic extension pieces.  This option increases user efficiency, reducing the need for user interaction.

Ease-of-Use Features

Zebra intelligent supplies and software make setup quick and easy with ribbon type detection, low-ribbon warning and automatic printer configuration to produce high-quality printing from the first card.  Zebra software drivers for Microsoft Windows Vista® compatible, 2000 and XP provide plug-and-play operation and compatibility with most applications.  Ethernet connectivity also lets the P330m be integrated into network-based environments.

The P330m uses Zebra monochrome ribbons to print cards with a wide variety of colors.  The ribbon system also features wider ribbons for better edge-to-edge printing.

Pricing and Availability

The P330m is available now through authorized Zebra card printer resellers worldwide.  As with all Zebra Value and Performance class card printers, the P330m comes with a two-year warranty.  In the EMEA, the manufacturer's suggested retail price is €1,995.
