Sagem Orga and CASSIS International have announced a one-stop, commercial-ready solution for mobile network operators and other service providers to remotely manage Over-The-Air (OTA) applications in the Single Wire Protocol (SWP) compliant 3G UICC recommended by the GSM Association for an NFC ecosystem.
Using the market-proven telco-grade ‘MobileMatrix' platform from CASSIS, mobile network operators and service providers can manage the ‘GlobalPlatform' advanced security scheme and the applications in the Sagem Orga SWP 3G UICC.
With the new solution, MNO's and service providers can establish a business relationship at any time. When the user subscribes to the provider's services, the service provider's security domain will be created in the UICC. The service provider loads, installs and personalizes the application OTA. All these operations are seamlessly managed by MobileMatrix to maximize user satisfaction.
CASSIS is currently the Trusted Service Manager for several major Asia-Pacific mobile operators and financial institutions for their NFC commercial projects (MPW 90). These clients now have another option for their NFC ecosystems, and can deploy the SWP UICC transparently.
Besides managing the life cycle of the SWP UICC and the associated applications, MobileMatrix is crucial in supporting the various exception scenarios, such as restoring applications in a new UICC and blocking, deleting and refreshing applications.
"We are glad to partner with Sagem Orga to provide the NFC business model as recommended by the GSM Association," comments Thian Yee Chua, CEO, CASSIS International. "Furthermore, this demonstrates the flexibility and the future-proof capability of MobileMatrix, which can support SIM-centric, embedded or detachable NFC configurations."
NFC technology has been promoted through a non-profit industry association since 2004 by leading mobile communications, semiconductor and consumer electronics companies. According to the latest results from ABI Research, it is forecasted that by 2012, 20% of the global mobile handset market will ship with built-in NFC capabilities.
