Oxicash claims India's first stored value wallet

Oxigen Services announced ‘OxiCash', a prepaid stored value wallet accessible through the mobile or PC allowing users to make payments for a host of services such as prepaid mobile, TV recharges, telephone bill payments, travel services, e-commerce sites, mobile videos, music, games and other utility/insurance bill payments.

“OxiCash is slated to drive the next wave of m/e-commerce in the country,” comments Pramod Saxena, MD, Oxigen Services. “We intend to offer a unique facility of making easy payments over SMS, GPRS or Web, with OxiCash. This will not only bring convenience, mobility of making payments, but also give flexibility to consumers. OxiCash will provide all its partners with an innovative payment platform to reach their potential customers.”

The latest entrant in the Indian m-payment market adds a new dimension to the service and is going to be especially beneficial to subscribers wanting to pay/buy from remote locations, without using GPRS. A subscriber will be able to use the facility of booking movie tickets while stuck in a traffic jam, or for making a payment for pizza delivery, for kids at home, while stuck in a late meeting at office.

All OxiCash partners/merchants who accept a payment through ‘SMSPay' will have a friendly and easy to remember ID. A subscriber has to SMS payment amount along with merchants ID to 9870 888 888 in a simple pre-defined format.

The amount will get debited from your OxiCash wallet and credited in favour of the Merchant. Both the subscriber and the Merchant will get confirmatory SMS messages from OxiCash with transaction details and amount.

OxiCash has also launched of two large web portals for retailers and consumers; www.oxitravel.in for Domestic and International Air Travel on all airlines and www.oxibillpay.in for Utility Bills payment like electricity, water, gas, insurance, magazine subscription and donations to CRY and other such organisations.
An account can be opened free of charge from the web, from mobile using GPRS through a WAP site or by sending an SMS and a six-digit password is sent to consumers for transacting.

Users can top-up accounts by paying cash at any of the 50,000 outlets across the country or online via existing e-banking channels. OxiCash is compatible across the board with any access technology, GSM, CDMA, WiFi, DSL or a Dial-up connection.
