Metric Parking, part of the Hoeft & Wessel Group, has announced ‘brisk demand' for its new Aura parking vending machine which will be launched in the US next year.
In its Q3 2007 statement to shareholders, Hoeft & Wessel say work is already underway to reduce the production costs of the pay and display parking machine which can also be used for contactless credit card payments. This additional function has been developed at the request of Visa and MasterCard and recently Barclaycard has ordered a device for evaluation.
Hoeft & Wessel say Metric plan to gain a more solid foothold in the US with increased sales activities in that country. The statement say growth is being fuelled by a large-scale contract awarded by Deutsche Bahn AG for 3,200 stationary station ticket vending machines. The largest order in the company's history.
The corporation uestra Hannoversche Verkehrsbetriebe had also opted in favour of the product and will be installing ticket machines worth €8.2m at its bus stops and stations.
